Nepathya scores goal at the ANFA Technical Institute in Butwal

Nepal’s premier folk rock band, Nepathya performed their third show of their on-going Nepal tour to the music enthusiast of Butwal on Monday evening.

While performing in Butwal, Nepathya frontman Amrit Gurung said, “Kaski, where I belong and Butwal, traditionally known as Batauli have an old tie. He then went on to recite few lines from a folk song he sang -

Yanimaya – Uhile Uhile Kaski Janda Yani Maya
Yanimaya. Dekhen Baidam Taala Yani Maya

Yanimaya - Batauli ko Bazaarama Yani Maya
Yanimaya - Kati Kinnu Chura ra Dhago Yani Maya

After reciting the line - he went on to sing Nepathya’s travel-based song - Salaijo. This song originates from the hills north of Butwal and covers a travel log Amrit had penned during his trek through Gulmi district.

The band than moved ahead with their classic hits Chekyo Chekyo, Jomsome Bazaar, Resham to Mai Mari Jaunla along with their recent releases Koshi ko Paani and Sirfula.

The overwhelming response from the audience while performing these numbers had energized the mood at the local Butwal stadium.

Addressing the audience Amrit said, “We are the people and we are the power. We have elected a stable government and we expect them to deliver as per the people’s mandate. We love this nation as much the politicians do. I urge the parties in power to deliver and not disappoint the public. Else the public will rise again. He then went on to sing Gaun Gaun bata utha.......

As the band was playing this song. The generator that powered the sound system went off. The lights were on but the sound went silent. It took about 2 minutes for the technicians to fix the technical glitch. Those 2 minutes became the most magical moment of the entire concert. When the electric power gave up, the unified audience chorus of over 4000 in attendance compensated the vocal and they kept on singing till the power got back.

“I feel blessed and fortunate to get this kind of supportive audience. I always regard our audience as our God and in this time of technical failure, our God guided us out of it ….” said Nepathya front-man Amrit Gurung.

Among the 4000 were also the young students of the ANFA technical institute. Looking at them, Amrit said, “This institute has produced fine players for our national squad. I wish you all to contribute more to the nation’s athletic development.” As Amrit said these lines the players erupted in cheers.

Nepathya has performed in Butwal earlier as well specially during the conflict period urging for peace and stability. This time, the band was performing in Butwal after almost two years.

Like the last time, the concert in Butwal was organized by Yes Nepal, a local event management group.

After Butwal, Nepathya’s concert entourage will now travel far-west to Dhangadi, where the show will be locally hosted by Dataz Event Management and The Mansion Nepal.

Dhangadi show is scheduled for 29th November at Dhangadi Stadium.
