NEPATHYA TO OPEN THE HIMALAYA FILM FESTIVAL
2 days after the 18 day long tour with Sundar Shnata Nepal – The Travelling Peace Concert, nepathya has now left for Europe.
Nepathya is to perform and open The Himalaya Film Festival in Amsterdam. Himalaya Film Festival is a yearly festival of films from the Himalyan Region, organised by Himalaya Archive Netherlands.
Nepathya featured documentary Bhedako Oon Jasto… in search of a song was screened at last year’s Himalayan Film Festival. The offer to feature Nepathya live at the next festival was immediatly offered by Festival Director – Dr. Glenn Mitrasing. It is a matter of pride and honour for Nerpali Music – that this offer has now materialised.
Nepathya will be performing at the festival venue –
De Griffioen, Cultural Centre of the Free University of Amsterdam
Uilenstede 106 1183 AM Amstelveen
on the evening of 4th of November. The festival which will last over the weekend will feature more than 50 films which includes 3 films on nepathya.
Bhedako oon Jasto is being re-screened.
Along with this Sa… shooting a music Video is also scheduled to be screened. This documentary film follows a Nepathya music video production team through the trans Himalayan region of Dolpo.
Another film on Nepathya to be screened is – Leave our Schools Alone. This film is a Tour documentation of Nepathya’s Nationwide tour during 2004, when they had performed in 15 places of the nation advocating for a politics free educational institute. The Theme of the tour was “Education for Peace”.
“These films and Nepathya’s performance amidst the Dutch Audience will help promote Nepali Music in the International Arena. To perform at a festival is indeed prestigious.” Says Kiran Shrestha who is leading the band to Europe.
“I am excited and I look forward for the performance, along with our folk-rock numbers, we will also sing songs of contemporary Nepal. We hope to pass a realistic picture of Nepal and contribute towards a positive publicity” says Amrit Gurung the front man of Nepathya.
Nepathya will also sing songs from it’s unreleased album Ghatana.
“We have received a positive response from people here. Nepathya’s quality of music and it’s social standing in Nepal has created value for Nepathya here as well. We are look forward of hosting Nepathya here” say’s Dr. Glenn Mitrasing – the festival Director.
Nepathya is knwon for it’s folk-rock number and it’s quality delivery. During the past 2 years Nepathya has toured intensively within Nepal. It has also performed in the US and South Korea as well. Nepathya’s music is close to Nepali music. It includes – folk falvour from all over the country. This is why critiques have named Nepathya as The most earthy band of Nepal.
After performing in Amsterdam and participating at the Himlaya Film festival nepathya is scheduled to tour around France and Belgium and return home on the 15th of November.
